This extraordinary meeting was considered necessary for the partnership in order to plan the next activities of the project through joint decision-making on how to organize subsequent local and transnational meetings, as well as for the necessary postponement of certain actions due to the problems created because of the coronavirus pandemic,
The inaugural greetings and the general coordination of the online meeting was undertaken by ANATOLIKI SA as the Lead Partner of the project. After a brief presentation of the attendees, each partner described the actions implemented so far, mentioning the effects of the pandemic on the original plan. Then, the representative of ANATOLIKI SA, presented for each work package, the actions and deliverables that were carried out as well as those that due to the special conditions, will have to be reprogrammed, on new dates, according to his project contract.
Then, each Leader of the Work Package made a corresponding presentation, proposing a new schedule so that the next planned actions are fully delivered, in relation to each partner’s Pilot Marine Protected Area, which in the case of ANATOLIKI SA is the Delta. of Axios river, in collaboration with the Thermaikos Gulf Management Agency.
For the smooth implementation of the project, all partners agreed to proceed with meetings with local support groups through teleconferences. In addition, it was decided to postpone the schedule of some activities on a case-by-case basis, from one month to three months, always keeping in mind the development of the pandemic in the coming months.
The next meeting of the project, which was scheduled to take place in Valencia, Spain on May 19, 2020, will take place on the same day via video conference. Meanwhile, the stakeholder seminar initially scheduled after the meeting, will take place at a later date, depending on the situation in the country. It was also agreed to create an online e-learning platform with results from previous projects to train people who manage Marine Protected Areas, which will be also related to INTERREG MED's “Horizontal Project” PANACEA..
